Anchor's Individualized Program allows families the opportunity to make some choices about curricula and implementation.
In a way, it is more flexible than the Teacher Designed Program, but it also requires more of the parent.
This is how it works . . . .
In consultation with the parent, the teacher creates a Student Learning Plan for the Individualized student, which describes how
the required BC Learning Outcomes will be met through appropriate resources, learning activities, and assessments.
During the year, the teacher monitors the student's academic progress and remains available to both student and parent for consultation
and academic help. Resources and information are posted at a classroom website. Parents are requested to send a portfolio of student
work at the end of each quarter. From these, report cards are created. Students are regularly invited to join their teacher and peers for "classroom" sessions via conference call or Blackboard sessions (roughly twice a month).
Families that succeed with this program usually have some homeschooling experience. At least one parent is very involved with
the daily tasks of assigning work, marking it, answering text-specific questions, and generally keeping the student on task.
